Stanislaus State OIT Learning Services has 6 DoubleBot Telepresence robots for Faculty and Staff use on campus. In Turlock their names are Robby, Hal 2, Rosie, Twiki, Data and 1 in Stockton named Maria
These allow on campus attendance for users when they are otherwise unable to attend locally. For more information about it's uses and functions, please see the Doublebot's manufacturer's website HERE.
To reserve a robot's use a user must first be trained by OIT Learning Services Staff. To begin that process please contact the Technology Helpdesk @ (209) 667-3687, or emailing TechSupport@csustan.edu or Submit A Ticket yourself.
Once trained, on the day of the reservation the robot will be delivered to the area needed and turned on, and a guest pass will be created for you and emailed to your email address. It will list the time and duration of your Guest usage. It will resemble this:
Clicking the link "Open Visitors Pass" on your device, the browser will log you in to the robot and your view will be this:
With your webcam's microphone and camera, people on location will see and hear you through the robot while you move and see and speak using the DoubleBot's interface.
This only works properly in indoor campus locations with strong EDUROAM wifi access. Outdoor areas or those with poor EDUROAM connection will not be able to utilize the Doublebot.
If interested in beginning the process of reserving a doublebot, please reach out to begin the training process. Be aware use of the Doublebots is first come first served and subject to availability.
