Windows Local Administrator Permissions Request

Least Privilege

Why am I not an administrator on my University issued computer?

Least privilege is a standard IT practice where users and programs are only given the access they need to perform their work, and nothing more. It's like giving an employee keys to only the rooms and buildings they should access. OIT uses this and other practices to help prevent data and systems form being compromised. Sometimes, some users may need more access to complete their work.

What do I do if I need to elevate my permissions?

You can submit a request to have your permissions elevated by using this form. Once the approval process is completed, administrator permissions will be granted on the requested computer. Click on the "Request Admin Permissions" button to get started.
