Installing the CMS AnyConnect VPN Client

Before you proceed

If you do not see "Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client" in the "Applications" section of Software Center in Windows 10 or if you do not have a "Q" drive on your computer, you must request access to the CMS VPN through the Security Access Request Form before a "Q" drive will appear on your computer.  If you have already submitted a Security Access Request form and that request has been completed, but still do not see "Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client" in the "Applications" section of Software Center in Windows 10 or still do not have the "Q" drive after rebooting your computer, please contact the Technology Support Desk.

Installing the Client

There are two methods to install the CMS Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client.  Please choose one of the following methods.

METHOD 1(Recommended):

  1. It's possible that the version numbers described below are different then what you see during installation, but the steps should be the same.
  2. Click the "Start" button in Windows 10.
  3. Search for Software Center:
  4. Click the "Applications" section along the left side if it is not already selected, then click "Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client":
  5. Click "Install":
  6. When installation is complete, you can connect to the CMS AnyConnect VPN as normal. For the first time after installation, the AnyConnect client may need to be opened as the installer doesn’t appear to do this for you. After computer restarts, the client starts when Windows starts. Once the AnyConnect client is installed, use the address "csslvpn1.dc.calstate.edu" without the quotes, to connect to the CMS data center.
