OIT Learning Services Develops HDMI & VGA Solution
Learning Services supports classroom technology in our Legacy, Standard, and Premium classrooms. As part of our classroom upgrade projects, we installed 'Ring Adapters' in all classrooms. The adapters provide the USB and HDMI connections that work for most laptops. Unfortunately, the ring adapters aren't commercially available with a VGA adapter and no industry solution was available to meet this need.
That's where Jerry Anderson and Manuel Figueiredo decided to get creative. Jerry is our Media Production Specialist and Manuel is our Equipment Technician. They modified the adapters to include the VGA feature that allows newer and older models of laptops to easily connect on campus.

The standard ring adapter provides:
- Mini DisplayPort (Male) to HDMI Adapter (Female)
- DisplayPort (Male) to HDMI (Female) Adapter
- USB Type-C (Male) to HDMI (Female) Adapter Cable
Learning Services' modification adds a VGA adapter to work with Standard and Legacy classrooms.
