OIT has adopted and implemented security practices to be compliant with current IT standards. One of these practices is the use of complex passwords to gain access to University data and devices. OIT has decided to meet this standard on macOS computers by using Password Sync to sync your Stanislaus (Stan) State password to your University issued Mac computer. This will be replacing NoMAD (the triangle icon on your menu bar) as the method of syncing passwords. The following article will show you how to use Password Sync.
The installation of Password Sync will coincide with the automatic removal of NoMAD from your University issued Mac. Newly distributed Macs will already have password sync installed. Like NoMAD, you will need to either be on campus or connected to GlobalProtect VPN off campus for your initial sign in or subsequent password changes. Here's how to sign in:
Once successfully signed in, you will see that the key icon in your menu bar is now black. This indicates that the computer password (password used to install apps and log in) has been changed to your Stan State password:
Password Sync gives you the ability to change your password without having to contact the Technology Support Desk. Here's how to do it:
Once your password has changed you will need to initiate a sync.
From here, you can follow the directions at the beginning of this article to sign back into Password Sync. Keep in mind that when you verify your passwords, you will need to enter your new password in the top field and your previous password in the bottom. If you can't remember any of your passwords or are having trouble, please contact the Technology Support Desk for assistance.
